The Care
At this exciting time in your life you need the comfort of knowing you have the best care. The Vale Practice offers you a complete holistic birth service comprising professional independent Midwifery, home birth equipment, one on one ante-natal Pilates, birth workshops and a range of complimentary therapies. The Practice and our Midwife are here to guide and advise you throughout your pregnancy so you get the full range of choices available.
The first step is to contact our Midwife Julyette Cushnie and our Birth Co-ordinator. They will explain what The Vale Practice offers and answer any questions you may have.
The Package
The Vale Practice provides a comprehensive package which ensures you have all the services you require when you need them. Alternatively any element of the service can be provided separately.

Water Birth
For an additional cost Vale birth can provide you with a birthing pool and the additional equipment required for your water birth aimed at providing a stress free home or hospital birth experience. Please see the price list for details.

Pre Natal Care
The key to pre natal care is continuity and bonding which takes place between yourself and your Midwife. You will be guided and supported towards feeling confident in having a happy birth experience.
Once you have asked our Midwife to care for you she will be available 24 hours a day throughout your pregnancy by phone. There is also a Midwifery Drop In Clinic every Monday 12.30 to 2.30pm. Initial consultations up until 26 weeks will take place at The Vale Practice unless medically indicated. The consultation structure is as below, however further visits may be arranged as necessary.
Monthly until 30 weeks
Fortnightly until 34 weeks
Weekly until the birth
As an Independent Midwife, Julyette is available to support you through your chosen birth experience. You can book a home birth, water birth or a planned hospital birth. Julyette can arrange further screenings and diagnostic tests either through the NHS or privately. Your Midwife will accompany you into hospital; her role there will be to support and advocate your choice and needs.
Post Natal Care
Following the birth of your baby your Midwife will be available for emergencies 24 hours a day for the duration of your 6 - 8 week postnatal care. For any other advice please call during the office hours of 8.30am-8pm, visit the weekly dropping clinic held at The Vale Practice, email or text. You will be provided with help and support with feeding and any issues which arise.
The consultations are structured with a daily visit for the first week, two visits per week until week three, and a weekly visit from week 3 for 6 or 8 weeks. During these visits you will get support with breast feeding, early parenting skills and general health information.
