Swedish Massage

Most modern forms of massage therapy derive from Swedish massage, which was developed by Per Henrik Ling in the 19th Century. After visiting China and experiencing massage there he developed his own style of therapy incorporating these ancient oriental skills. Swedish massage uses techniques such as: stroking, kneading, friction, percussion, knuckling and pressuring.

Massage can be both relaxing and invigorating, relieving tired, knotted and tight muscles. Regular body massages can have an enhancing effect on your health in general and your vitality. Massage helps remove toxins and improves the circulation of blood and lymph around the body for rapid cell renewal. Massage is also good for skin conditions and improves the elasticity, texture and general tone of the skin.

Massage relaxes tense and tight muscles and helps them to work efficiently. Stiff and sore joints are eased, tension headaches and decreases the effects of anxiety and improves the immune system.

Massaging the body also relaxes the mind, helping the body let go of all the pressures of everyday life, promoting general well being and self-esteem.
