Counselling
Counselling offers a confidential, non-judgmental and reliable relationship.
You may feel depressed, anxious, or have low self-esteem. Perhaps you have suffered loss, bereavement, or trauma, or you are experiencing relationship difficulties. Counselling can help by offering support during time of crisis and transition and by challenging tendencies to repeat unhelpful patterns of thought and behaviour.
It is somewhere to talk about your thoughts and the feelings you have about them. By deepening self awareness, it can help make sense of recurrent problems and clarify choices to enable you to develop your potential.
Psychodynamic Counselling is a type of in depth counseling that stems from Freud and Jung. Painful situations in the present that may have roots in the past can be understood in a clearer way, allowing possibility of greater freedom of thought and action.
In this model of counselling, the relationship between client and counselor is central to the work being done. Advice is not given, but the environment offered enables difficulties to be tackled and better understood, facilitating the exploration of possible change.
Our counsellors have a wide experience of working with adults of all ages and backgrounds and are used to varying the intensity and focus of the work according to clients' needs. They work on a one-to-one basis in private practice and in the NHS.
The initial consultation is not necessary commitment to further sessions and can be a valuable experience in itself. You may find a short sequence of sessions sufficient for your needs, or decide on an open-ended arrangement. In either of these situations, a verbal agreement to weekly 50 minute sessions would be made.
